The Regional Response Team (RTT) is a key component of the U.S. federal government’s commitment to ensure effective preparedness and response to oil and other hazardous substances to protect public health, safety, and the environment. There are 13 RRTs, one for each of ten federal regions, plus one for Alaska, one for the Caribbean, and one for the Pacific Basin. The RRTs are responsible for planning and coordination of regional preparedness, as well as planning and coordination of response actions in support of the Federal On-Scene coordinator during an incident. The EPA and the Coast Guard co-chair the standing RRTs.
